2011 YEF Executive Development Retreat
By Jessica Polychronis
YEF Chairwoman
The YEF sponsored the annual ISA Executive development Retreat and Outreach in Denver August 17-19, gathering 30 Industrial Supply Association members for one day of community outreach and one-and-a-half days of accelerated learning and education.
The community outreach took place at a local Boys and Girls Club branch of Denver where the YEF presented a check to the club for $1,695 on behalf of the ISA. Afterward, retreat attendees volunteered their time to paint, clean and organize the club just in time to meet the kids and join in a back-to-school carnival. The kids received raffle tickets and were able to win backpacks and school supplies to start their new school year.
The educational section, “Bringing it All Together,” included the following topics: New way to See, Evaluate, Assess and Improve Bottom-Line Profitability; Sales Compensation Best Practices; How Distributors and Suppliers are Working Together to Improve Profitability. The following day was on “Information to Help Run Your Business,” explaining some of the industry-specific reporting available and developed for the membership of ISA.
Feedback from the attendees regarding the EDR was excellent and the YEF will continue to supply high-impact learning programs for future retreats. Additionally, each of the 30 attendees expanded their network of industry contacts, a hidden value of the YEF-sponsored retreats.
