2013 Executive Development Retreat

by Rene Savage, YEF Chairman, Stellar Industrial Supply

The 2013 EDR was a huge success! Thirty attendees gathered in Minneapolis for three days of exciting events and sessions.

It started off with the attendees participating in a community outreach event at the Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities. There they joined fellow participants and children at the club in many fun activities. ISA and the Young Executive Forum was also proud to present the Boys and Girls Club with a check for $2,765!

“Your genuine love for kids and your sincere desire to make a difference was overwhelmingly clear.  Witnessing the kids shadowing your members, doing everything from dodge ball to coloring to table games—and even some hair-braiding by the girls—was heart-warming,” said Lori Peterson, Boys & Girls Club of the Twin Cities

Attendees spent the remainder of the retreat gaining very useful information from this year’s speakers!  Bob DeStefano started off by putting the participants through his “Online Marketing Boot Camp.” They learned of many tools and methods that will bring them closer to becoming the online marketing genius for their companies. Sam Richter followed with his “Know More!” presentation.  Participants could not wait to get to their computers after he shared his tricks on how easy it is to find information about others online as well as how they can find information on you.

3M opened the doors of its Innovation and EDGE Centers to EDR attendees. Participants were able to hear, see, and touch the different examples of cutting edge technology that 3M has brought into the world over the years. They also got the chance to tour the actual training center of 3M employees!

Following the EDR, YEF past chairman Chad Hale, current chairman Rene Savage, and committee member Dale Bartelson survived the Minneapolis Tough Mudder event. The Tough Mudder event is a hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test your all-around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. Good job guys!

ISA and the Young Executive Forum would like to thank everyone who made this year’s Executive Development Retreat possible and hopes to see everyone again in 2014!
