ICP Alliance Partner Update

Activities and Accomplishments

  • Save the Date! The ICP Alliance Partner meeting will be held April 3-4 at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Be on the lookout for a fomal invite soon. The meeting will give all participants the opportunity to meet and discuss the work that needs to be done to broaden the pool of qualified and informed sales and customer service candidates for industrial distributors.
  • On January 19, a total of 26 students were in attendance for "Business Fundamentals of Industrial Distribution," the first class offered by Mohawk College as part of its new Industrial Distribution Leadership Program. Congratulations to all School and Industry Champions and Alliance Partners who participated in working so hard to make the class a reality!
  • We are steadily working towards the development of the online "Essentials of Industrial Distribution" course curriculum. To ensure that the curriculum meets the needs for a variety of industries, we need input from all Alliance Partners. Please contact Craig McAtee at cmcatee@industrialcareerspathway.org to offer your input.
  • In a recent update, ICP alerted partners that the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) recently developed a new progression ladder as well as job descriptions and salary ranges for careers in industrial distribution.

ICP plans to add this content to the ICP Web site soon, and we'd like your feedback whether the information encompasses the career progression of your industry.

This is your opportunity to review the interactive content.

Contact Cathleen Loud, communications manager, at +1.312.516.2100 or cloud@ptda.org no later than Feb. 15 with your comments and suggestions.

  • The Henry Ford Community College Advisory Committee met Friday, January 25 to discuss the next offering of "Essentials of Industrial Distribution." HFCC has scheduled the course to begin in mid- March. We will provide an update on course details in next month's communication.
  • Phyllis Russell and Craig McAtee visited Bucks County Community College in Newton, Pa., in early January. With a renewed group of School and Industry Champions, the college plans to offer "Essentials of Industrial Distribution" in the fall.

Help Sustain the Initiative

  • Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, Neb. is in need of an instructor for its "Essentials of Industrial Distribution" course for the fall semester.

Would one of your members in the Omaha area be a good candidate to teach the course? If you know someone who might be interested, please contact Phyllis Russell at prussell@ptda.org or +1.312.516.2100.

  • We are beginning to build the ICP Web site and our web presence to appeal to a younger audience and potential employees. We want to make sure all Alliance Partners have a voice in ICP communications, messaging and on the Web site.

Interested in talking about messaging or online marketing and how to reach a younger audience? Contact Cathleen Loud at cloud@ptda.org pr +1.312.516.2100.

  • To continue to build awareness of industrial distribution, we want to broaden the reach of our messages. We'd be happy to send the quarterly ICP newsletter to any companies that you think may benefit. Contact Cathleen Loud at +1.312.516.2100 or cloud@ptda.org to add names to the distribution list.
  • Is the ICP URL a link on your association's Web site? If not, contact ICP staff, and we'll tell you how you can help promote the initiative to your members through your site!
