ICP Alliance Partner Update
|
Activities and Accomplishments
|
|
|
- In 2007, seven Alliance Partners made generous
donations to ICP. Thanks those
organizations for financially supporting the initiative
and to all
Alliance Partners in assisting ICP in building
relationships with your members who face the tough
challenge of finding qualified entry-level
employees.
- ICP extends a warm welcome to the Canadian
Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH), the newest
organization to join the ICP Partner Alliance. Read the
recent press release about CIPH for more
information.
- Thanks to everyone who has sent us
information about your inside sales/customer service
training resources. If you have not yet contacted us,
you may reach Phyllis Russell at
prussell@ptda.org.
As the next step in developing the Essentials of
Industrial Distribution online course curriculum, Craig
McAtee will be reaching out to those with
experience in curriculum development for review
assistance. If you would like to participate,
please
volunteer by contacting him at
cmcatee@industrialcareerspathway.org.
- We recently developed a list of volunteers for the
ICP Advisory Committee. This committee will assist
in the planning
and development of the ICP initiative. You can get
involved! If you would like to participate, contact Phyllis
Russell at
+1.312.516.2100 or prussell@ptda.org
before January 1.
- We rely on you
to spread the word to your members about the
industrial distribution
courses available throughout the United States and
Canada. Help spread awareness of the programs by
promoting the courses listed in the Key Dates
section below.
If you need additional information
to
communicate to your members, contact
Cathleen Loud at +1.312.516.2100 or cloud@ptda.org.
- The ICP Alliance
Partner/Champions Academy & Instructor Training will
be held in Chicago in early to mid-April. Stay tuned for
more information!
- ICP Champion Bill Childers recently visited the
last Introduction to Industrial Distribution class of the
semester at Henry Ford Community College
(Dearborn, Mich.) to follow up with students on why
they took the course and to give them more
information on the industry and careers. Of the eight
students in the class, two were in attendance
because of their interest in industrial distribution. The
other six said that the class fit their
schedules.
As part of the visit, Bill showed the students the new
ICP video and offered them the opportunity
to visit a distributor
location if they were interested. Two students from the
class are strong candidates for local employers.

Help Sustain the Initiative
|
|
|
- To continue to build awareness of industrial
distribution, we want to broaden the reach of our
messages. We'd be happy to send the quarterly ICP
newsletter to any companies that you think may
benefit. Contact Cathleen Loud at +1.312.516.2100 or
cloud@ptda.org
to add names to the distribution list.
- Is the ICP
URL a link on your association's Web site? If not,
contact ICP
staff, and we'll tell you how you can help promote
the initiative to your members through your site!
- We want to highlight young, enthusiastic people
on the ICP Web site and in the newsletter. Do you
know of young employees in your members'
companies who might be willing to be interviewed? If
so,
please send an e-mail to Cathleen Loud at cloud@ptda.org with the
person's contact information.
