ISA names 2006 Value-Added Partner Award winners

The association also recognizes the Value-Added Distributor, Value-Added Manufacturer and two American Eagle Corporate Citizenship Award winners.

The Industrial Supply Association (ISA) announced the winners of its American Eagle Value-Added Partner Award during the Industrial Supply Conference & Trade Fair in San Antonio, Texas, May 20. The award recognizes the efforts of a manufacturer and distributor working together to add value to their end-user customers.

Winners of the 2006 award were cutting tool manufacturer Sandvik Coromant of Fair Lawn, N.J., and distributor Duncan Equipment Company of Oklahoma City. They were recognized for their program documenting more than $1.3 million in savings for the Balon Corporation, an Oklahoma City-based ball valve manufacturer that primarily serves the oil and gas industry worldwide.

“We’re pleased to name Sandvik Coromant and Duncan Equipment winners of our American Eagle Value-Added Partner Award,” said Charlie Day, national accounts manager for the L.S. Starrett Company in Athol, Mass., chairperson of ISA’s Partnership Enhancement and Awards Committee. “The highest honor the association can bestow on its recipients, the award acknowledges true partnership between channel partners and best exemplifies the goals that our association strives to achieve.”

In order to win the award, applicants were required to demonstrate exceptional documented cost savings or productivity improvements based on a single event or an annual program conducted with a channel partner.

Representatives from Sandvik Coromant and Duncan Equipment visit Balon’s facility every week, working on projects to increase productivity and generate cost savings. “Consistent and constant communication forms the core of the relationship between our three companies,” said Jamie Price, regional manager for Sandvik Coromant. “This high level of communication and information sharing facilitates the identification of potential areas for improvement, along with the implementation of steps to capitalize on these areas.”

“It’s exciting to see how a cutting tool company with a Swedish parent corporation and a distributor from the Midwest can partner together to help a U.S.-based manufacturer compete more effectively against global competition, which helps keep jobs and opportunities here in the U.S.,” said David Ragland, chairman of Duncan Equipment Company.

Additional awards announced

Haggard & Stocking Associates of Indianapolis was named recipient of the 2006 American Eagle Value-Added Distributor Award in recognition of its inventory management program at Harrison Steel Casting Company in Attica, Ind. Using tool vending technology, Haggard & Stocking collects used carbide tooling for recycling and also tracks tools for repair.

Ashburn Chemical Technologies, Houston, Texas, received the 2006 American Eagle Value-Added Manufacturer Award for its comprehensive value-added selling program. The program includes chemical and services audits devoted to helping customers increase productivity and reduce waste, and manage coolant and coolant recycling programs.

The association also named a manufacturer and distributor winner of the American Eagle Corporate Citizenship Award. The distributor award was given to Tenaquip Ltd. of Montreal, in recognition of its ongoing support of local charities and educational organizations, and its efforts to encourage employee participation in such organizations.

The manufacturer award went to the 3M Industrial Products Division, for its continuing support of multiple charities, community involvement initiatives, corporate employee educational development efforts, and disaster response programs for the victims of 2005 disasters such as the tsunami in Southeast Asia and hurricane relief for the U.S. Gulf Coast.
