The ISA eBusiness Committee announces availability of the long-awaited ISA eBusiness Implementation Guideline. The guideline contains information on electronic business transactions, global identification numbering for items, assets and locations, plus bar code guidelines. The guide also contains information on the new Custom Industrial Supply Number used to globally, uniquely identify one-of-a-kind, made-to-order items sold in the MROP channel.
Written in an easy-to-read style, the Guideline includes explanations of common terms that form the major building blocks of an electronic business strategy, such as electronic data interchange (EDI), eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and Global Trade Item Number (GTIN). The 50-page document includes chapters on GS1 Keys to identify items, locations and assets in bar codes and electronic business transactions.
“The Electronic Business Committee’s objective was to create a guideline on the timely exchange of accurate business data with a focus on item identification and electronic business transactions,” said ISA eBusiness Director Paula Giovannetti. “The goal is to support the business process of buying and selling industrial supplies.”
ISA members can purchase a CD that contains Portable Document Files (PDFs) of the 50-page ISA eBusiness Implementation Guideline, plus five individual electronic data interchange (EDI) transaction sets (810 Invoice, 816 Organizational Relationships, 832 Price/Sales Catalog, 850 Purchase Order, 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgment).
The ISA member cost to purchase the ISA eBusiness Implementation Guideline is $150; the non-member price is $400. Click here to download a PDF of the Table of Contents. Click here to download an order form.
