Can you give a half day to promote the outsourced sales profession and to raise the visibility of outsourced sales professionals with the academic community? Volunteer to participate in a Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon sales competition.
Pi Sigma Epsilon (www.pse.org) is the national undergraduate college fraternity for marketing, sales management, and sales. At its regional conferences, the group holds a Pro-Am Sell-A-Thon sales competition that allows undergraduate college students with aspirations for a sales career to compete with their peers by preparing and presenting a sales presentation.
Reps members can give back to their profession by volunteering as coaches and judges at these regional competitions. Reps can volunteer for a half day (8:30 a.m. to noon) as a sales coach for a Pi Sigma Epsilon student contestant or a full day (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) as both a coach and judge.

The 2009 ISA PROFIT Report provides the most comprehensive set of benchmarks available for financial performance in the industry. For most firms, 2008 qualifies as a year to file and forget. The financial results for recession years, however, offer some extremely valuable insights into what distinguishes the outstanding firm from the more typical firm. Read the supplement to the 2009 ISA Profit Report.
The Materials Market Digest is authored by Ed Scott, renowned industry icon and financial expert. In each issue, a section of the digest is devoted to those materials sectors where pricing or price-influencing action has taken place within the previous month. Included are announced price changes by major producers, action in applicable commodity markets, factors affecting supply or demand, and more. Scott mines a wide variety of sources to compile his report and adds his own vast knowledge of industry trends and always-welcome commentary to each edition of the digest. The digest is provided as a benefit of your membership in ISA.

This set of exhibits and charts provides an overview of financial trends in distribution between 2003 and 2007. It places special emphasis on the changes between 2006 and 2007. The analysis covers 40 different lines of trade in distribution. This information comes courtesy of Dr. Al Bates of the Profit Planning Group. The industrial group shown on Exhibits 2-6 are all wholesale trade associations serving the MROP channels, including ISA.
The ISA Economic Outlook Report details the industrial production outlook, focusing on major macroeconomic indicators and the current business cycle. ISA members can use the report to learn how end-user industries are performing. ISA members can also chart their business trajectory with regard to the Conference Board's Leading Indicators, the Institute for Supply Management's Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), EcoTrends Leading Indicator, corporate bond prices, U.S. money supply, retail sales, housing starts and industrial production. The report is conducted by Alan Beaulieu of the Institute for Trend Research (ITR).
Formerly called the Business Conditions Report, the Economic Indicator Report summarizes business activity for both manufacturers and distributors in one easy-to-read synopsis. Click this link to see a sample of the new Economic Indicator Report format. Only participants will receive this customized report. If you want to learn how to participate, contact John Buckley at jbuckley@isapartners.org.

Here are the latest versions of the Monthly and Quarterly Business Conditions Reports. The reports have been separated for greater ease of use. You can download both reports by clicking the appropriate links to the right.
Once you open the reports, click on the Pages tab on the left side of the reports to view individual pages. Then right-click on any individual page to print and use the pages for presentations or discussion.
Both reports contain the results of the purchasing agents of our customers, which can be found in the ISM-Manufacturer section toward the back of the report.
There is no other report generated about industry performance using the same scale of measurement that combines the results of the entire channel: manufacturers, distributors and purchasing agents. We hope you find the information of value and interest.
