FAQs
Why should I participate in the mentorship program?
Participating in the mentorship program offers a range of benefits for both mentees and mentors. Mentees gain valuable insights and guidance from experienced professionals, helping them navigate their career paths and achieve their goals. Mentors, on the other hand, can enhance their leadership skills, broaden their professional network, and enjoy the rewarding experience of giving back to the industry. Overall, the program fosters career growth, supports professional development, and strengthens connections within the industrial community.
Why should an ISA member company encourage their employees to participate in the Mentorship Program?
Encouraging participation in the Mentorship Program allows ISA member companies to leverage the expertise of industry professionals to develop their employees. This initiative not only helps attract, engage, and retain top talent but also addresses gaps in women’s leadership roles and promotes workforce diversity. By fostering a supportive learning environment, the program enhances employee retention and strengthens succession planning, ensuring a more committed and capable workforce within the industrial channel.
Who can apply to be a mentor or mentee?
The program is open to all ISA member employees. In alignment with the Women in Industry Mission and Vision, we encourage women and all interested individuals to apply as mentors or mentees. Mentors should be experienced professionals in the industrial industry, while mentees are those seeking career guidance and support.
What is the fee for the mentorship program?
For the 2025–2026 Year Two program, mentees join for $195. Mentors participate at no cost, generously giving their time and expertise.
All participants receive a $50 discount on their 2025 Fall Summit registration and are strongly encouraged to attend both the Summit and the exclusive in-person Mentorship Kickoff Workshop hosted at the Fall Summit to get the most value from the program.
How long is the mentorship commitment and what is the structure?
The mentorship program spans 6 months, with mentors and mentees expected to connect at least once a month. Meetings may be held virtually or in person, with in-person connections encouraged when possible.
Participants receive 6 structured discussion modules and best-practice worksheets to guide each conversation. The WII Mentorship Committee will provide regular check-ins throughout the program and host a final reflection session to celebrate progress, share key takeaways, and recognize successes.
What kind of support and training do mentors and mentees receive?
Both mentors and mentees will receive best practices and training materials, including 6 structured modules designed to guide their mentorship journey. While these resources support a strong foundation, the most impactful way to kick off the experience is by attending the in-person Pre-Conference Mentorship Workshop and the ISA Fall Summit. Together, these events provide hands-on mentorship training and powerful leadership development opportunities for participants at any level.
What equipment or technical requirements are there for this program?
Students are required to have a computer, internet access, and Zoom conferencing capabilities that include the use of video. The program is very interactive so conferencing videos must be on!
How are mentors and mentees matched?
Mentors and mentees are matched based on their professional backgrounds, skills, goals, and preferences indicated in their applications. We strive to create compatible and effective mentorship pairs. You can specify any preferences for your mentor or mentee’s background in your application. We will do our best to accommodate these preferences during the matching process.
